Rembrandt House Museum

The house where Rembrandt lived and worked for almost twenty years, now a museum. The rooms are small, so the visit is short.

Rembrandt bought this house in 1639 and lived here until his bankruptcy in the 1650s, working in a studio on the upper floor. The museum has furnished the rooms from an inventory drawn up at that time, so you see the kitchen, the living rooms and the studio as they were. A multimedia tour guides the visit, which is short because the house is small. Etching demonstrations show how he made his prints.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket €23.50. All prices include the multimedia tour, and tickets for the last two hours of the day cost less.

The museum asks you to book a timed ticket online. You can buy at the desk (debit card only) but a slot guarantees entry.

Getting there

Metro 51, 53 or 54 to Waterlooplein, then about a three minute walk along the Jodenbreestraat.
