The street starts at Plaza Nueva and follows the Darro, which runs in a narrow channel beside it. Old stone bridges, church fronts and the Casa de Castril, home of the archaeological museum, line the way. It ends at Paseo de los Tristes, a wide path under the Alhambra walls with street musicians and café terraces. From there the road to Sacromonte and the lanes of the Albaicín climb away from the river.
