A small 18th century chapel that holds the Veiled Christ, a marble figure under a shroud that looks like real cloth. The visit is short and tightly timed.

Prince Raimondo di Sangro remodelled the chapel in the 18th century and filled it with sculpture full of symbolism. The Veiled Christ is the best known piece, but the statues of the Virtues along the nave are carved as finely. A stair leads down to a lower chamber with two anatomical machines. Plan on about 45 minutes.

What to look for

  • The Veiled Christ
  • The marble Virtues along the nave
  • The anatomical machines in the lower chamber
