The present cathedral dates from the late 13th century and keeps the relics and the blood of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. The visit takes in the main church, the basilica of Santa Restituta with its five aisles and the baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte, which goes back to the late 4th or early 5th century. Rooftop walkways give a separate paid view over the domes of the old town.

The free visit runs in guided groups from 09:30 to 17:00, with the last group leaving at 17:00. Services can limit access to parts of the building.

Tickets and booking

Free. The cathedral, Santa Restituta and the baptistery are free to visit. The rooftop experience is sold separately.

Getting there

Cavour station on Metro Line 2 is about ten minutes' walk, and the entrance is on Via Duomo.
