The palace was built in the 17th century for the Spanish viceroys and later became the seat of the Bourbon kings. The route runs through the monumental staircase, the court theatre, the chapel and a long series of state rooms with tapestries, furniture and painted ceilings. Rooms can occasionally be closed, so the route varies from day to day. Plan on two hours.
