The Historical Building opened in 1891 and was reopened on 28 October 2018 after a long rebuild. An underground corridor with a multimedia exhibition connects it to the New Building across the road. Inside, the main hall and the Pantheon with its dome are the architecture to see, and the long term exhibitions include Windows to Prehistory. It is a dry option for a rainy afternoon.
