A walled hilltop complex with St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica and Golden Lane. The courtyards are free to enter, and the main sights inside need a ticket and a security check.

The Castle began in the ninth century and grew into the seat of Bohemian kings and later of the Czech president. The main circuit takes in St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace with its great Gothic hall, St George's Basilica and the row of tiny houses on Golden Lane. A second ticket group covers the permanent exhibitions and the picture gallery. Allow time for the climb, the security check and the changing of the guard at the main gate.

From 1 April to 31 October the historical buildings open from 9:00 to 17:00. St Vitus Cathedral opens at 12:00 on Sundays, with last entry at 16:40. From 1 November the buildings close at 16:00. The Castle grounds are open daily from 6:00 to 22:00, and the gardens are closed from 1 November to the end of February. On 10 October 2026 the cathedral opens only from 12:30 to 17:00.

Tickets and booking
Adult ticket CZK 450. The main circuit ticket covers the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica, Golden Lane and St Vitus Cathedral. The permanent exhibitions, the Picture Gallery and the cathedral tower are priced separately.
Tickets for the circuits are sold at the information centres inside the Castle. The main circuit can also be bought online through a ticketing partner named on the official page. A ticket is valid for two days, and each building can be entered once.
Getting there
Tram 22 stops at Pražský hrad outside the gate, or take Metro A to Malostranská and walk up the Old Castle Stairs in about 15 minutes.
Tip
Arrive at opening, walk straight to the cathedral, then do the Old Royal Palace and the basilica, and leave Golden Lane for the end.
